Philosophy skincare

Philosophy skincare

So, this is my first try at creating a set on Polyvore, I hope you all find it visually appetising;)
And of course! Welcome to my new blog, dedicated to the beautiful, and some may say, superficial, but I would say absolutely mesmerising aesthetic of cosmetics. (Pardon my alliteration, please)Also, judging by my first ever post, this blog also spills over into (most vitally) skincare as well as the occasional hair product or two, as I am quite a lazy person when it comes to styling my hair!

I was just watching a skincare regime video by the lovely Roseanne, and was reminded of an absolute delight of a cleanser I had tried a small sample of, about two months ago while I was away from home. I had brought a small deluxe-sized sample bottle of Philosophy's Purity Made Simple cleanser to use as my daily facial cleanser on my trip, as well as the SPF & non-SPF/ regular version of Philosophy's Hope in a Jar moisturiser. So, after using most/all of these deluxe samplers up, these are the reviews of them:

Philosophy Purity Made Simple cleanser: A very mild, gentle facial cleanser that is made for daily use. It is suitable for sensitive, oily/combination and normal skin, and because it is so gentle, I predict it would be suitable for drier skin types as well. It has a very mild scent, sort of like how a cleanser would smell like, without any artificial frangrances added to it. Leaves the skin very fresh and clean, and does not give the sensation of your skin being stripped of all its moisture. I found it comparable to the Cetaphil cleanser because both are very mild and gentle cleansers without any fragrance, although I personally prefer Philosophy's. I love this as a daily cleanser, definitely getting the larger size soon!

Philosophy Hope in A Jar moisturiser (Original version - without SPF): An almost mousse-like consistency with a very mild scent, which seems more the natural scent of the ingredients than an actual scent added to the moisturiser. Upon application onto skin, it melts almost like butter in a hot pan, and is slightly greasy-feeling for the first minute or two. Having oily/combination skin, I find this a touch greasy feeling, compared to the water-based moisturisers I am used to. I don't find it gives my skin any additional form of hydration compared to my other moisturizers, so I wasn't particularly impressed. However, I found it better used during the winter months, than if I were to use it in more temperate countries or tropical countries. I would say, it is a good, average performing moisturiser recommended for Normal to Dry skin types

Philosophy Hope in A Jar moisturiser (with SPF 25): Is the same consistency as the original version, except I found this much greasier on my skin. I ended up giving this to my Mum, as her skin tends to the other end of the spectrum. I would not recommend this particular moisturizer for Oily/ Combination skin types, even though it has the added bonus of an SPF 25.

Philosophy Help Me Retinol Night Treatment: Said to have the benefits of Vitamin A, without the peeling. This particular night treatment helps minimize the appearance of large pores, fine lines and skin discoloration. I don't really use night treatments, except for my eye area, so I gave this to my Mum as well to try out, so I unfortunately, can't give my opinion on this.

All in all, nothing really wowed me in the whole set, except the cleanser, which is a Holy-smokes-run-out-and-get-yourself-an awesome-daily-cleanser-right-now kinda buy...! ;) Next on my 'to try list' by Philosophy, are their divinely scented body washes! :)
